OUR FOUNDERS

The Lord called The Late Pastor Dorothy Glisper in the year 1966, to preach the word of God.

Eleven years later, she began to obey God by studying his word in the mission class

at All Nation’s Pentecostal Church.

She was then baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost and continued the study at God’s Holy Tabernacle Church.  After she completed the mission class, she was ordained at God’s Holy Tabernacle Church under the leadership of Elder Bobby Armon.  During her time there she worked with the children’s choir, she was the Pastor’s Aide president and she sang in the Gospel Choir.

Going on, the Lord then led her to a prison ministry, where she counseled with inmates at the St

James catholic Church, which was located downtown. She preached the gospel in the

Waupun State Prison, The House of Correction and the Kettle Moraine Correctional

Institution.  The Lord spoke to the pastor and told her to recruit lost souls, and to teach the word of

God.

Pastor Glisper and The Late Elder Sam Glisper went from door to door recruiting souls as the Lord led

them to do, and telling them that it was time to get saved; so she started a Bible Class in their home, in the fall of 1980. The first night seven people came. The second week, no one showed up. After she prayed about it, she said to Elder Glisper, “well, I know that the Lord told me to teach, so I will continue to do so, even if No one is present but you, Markeena and Ronnie.”

The following week, twenty- two were present. The Lord begin to bless and he showed the Pastor the name Universal Peace in Christ Church in a vision. Universal means everyone regardless of race, color, creed or nationality. Peace means that we can have peace in Jesus Christ.  The Lord showed her people with their heads cut off, which puzzled her until the Lord interpreted the vision. God told her that she was going to pastor this

church and the headless people were people without a shepherd.  Pastor Glisper began fasting and praying and Universal Peace in Christ Church was organized in Pastor and Elder Glisper’s home, with the Moores, the Manns, the Baseys, the Davis’s and the Gilbert families present. They started seeking the Lord for a building and after much praying, the Lord led her to the building at 3907 – 3911 N. 27th Street, which she rented for only $50.00.  The seller offered the building for $55,000.00, but the Lord told pastor that she could have it for $25,000.00 instead. So she waited because the true owner was Jesus and not man. The church was established on March 9th, 1981. The Lord blessed Pastor and Elder Glisper with the building for $25,000.00 and no money down.

It pays to wait upon the Lord. Most of the building was condemned, except for the store and the church area, but the Lord encouraged the pastor to do the work, which Elder Glisper and Bishop Gilbert helped her to complete. There were times when they wanted to give up, due to extensive repairs needed. The pastor however, kept encouraging them, so they continued to work, even without heat. Romans 1:17 was their encouragement, that says, “Therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: As it is written, the just shall live by Faith.”

The pastor received $2,500.00 shortly after renting the church and another $500.00 a few weeks later, which was spent in its entirety for the

choir’s robes, interior and exterior repairs.  The Lord continued to bless. In 1981, our total membership was only 44.  We have been blessed in the past, with a brief radio ministry and two church vans. Many have been Counseled, fed, clothed and healed by the power of God. There have been over 300 baptisms, over 31 Christenings and 36 plus marriages performed here. Many have been filled with the Holy Ghost and fed the word of God.

The pastor was inspired by God to write three books that were published, titled, “There is no room For hate, when the love if God is in your heart; Chosen women of faith, go forth and fear no more, and Don’t be bitter at God, for he’s done nothing wrong.  There is a class for everyone, no matter what level.

There have been many young ministers and evangelists ordained here.   We have also been affiliated with many nursing homes, and we have a mission team; their purpose is to visit the sick, the shut in and the homeless.

In 1988, we had a fire that damaged the building, but not our spirits.  God blessed  us to remodel.

We helped support an orphanage in Port Au Prince Haiti. There have been many disappointments, but we knew this would come, yet we are determined to keep on working for the Lord, doing his will.

In July, 1993, the Lord blessed us with this building, 3615 W Fond Du lac Ave. In August 2015, we suffered a devastating flood at no fault of ours, and we were not able to have services here at our church for seven months. Thankfully, New Life Church of Holiness, allowed and welcomed us to fellowship with them, during this time.

It was prophesied by Prophet Michael Turner years ago, that three millionaires would come and bless the church. We believed, kept the faith and waited, and low and behold, the prophecy of God has come to pass, as of 2016; the three millionaires consisted of: The City of Milwaukee, American Family Insurance, Grinker Contracting Company.

As you can see, God blessed, everything from top to bottom was renewed; while we were trying to figure it out, God had already worked it out.

As Nehemiah 4:6 says, “So built we the wall, and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof for the people had a mind to work.”  Our desire is to do a greater work each year with the guidance of the Lord.  We ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers, and we will do the same for you.  We’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord.
